Rehabilitation & Specialized Care program at Bunker Hill Road
provides easy access to a range of family-centered medical and
therapy services to meet your child's needs. We also provide care
for children who are transitioning from a traditional hospital and
aren't quite ready to be cared for at home.The Special Police
Officer (SPO) is responsible for providing protection and security
for patients, employees, visitors, hospital grounds, and assets as
assigned.The work schedule for this position is Sunday - Thursday,
3pm to 11:30pm.QualificationsHigh School level of knowledge
(Required)Prior security experience preferred. Ability to learn how
to operate security systems. Ability to read and interpret
policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to follow verbal and
written instructions. Ability to communicate with others, both
verbally and in writing. Ability to write detailed reports. Ability
to conduct security rounds and inspections inside and outside the
hospital in various weather conditions.Required Licenses and
CertificationsSpecial Police Officer Commission (Required within 60
days of hire) and Eligible for Security Officer (Upon Hire)Job
FunctionsEssential job duties:
- Patrols hospital and surrounding grounds to prevent fire,
theft, vandalism, and intruders.
- Monitors conduct of visitors and questions unauthorized persons
when necessary.
- Reports occurrences such as violence, disorderly conduct,
theft, etc. Interacts with MPD as required.
- Reports safety concerns, fire hazards, and protective service
violations.
- Escorts staff and visitors to parking garage and other hospital
areas upon request.
- Enforces established hospital/departmental policies and
procedures regarding quality assurance, environmental and infection
control, safety, etc.
- Proficiently operates CCTV, Card Access, and other security
systems.
- Staff the Command Center and proficiently operate the telephone
system.
- Staff the reception desk and assist visitors in a professional
manner.
- Attends QBS/Safety-Care Training.
- Responds and assists with patients displaying aggressive
behavior.
- Responds to all internal emergency codes.Other job duties:
- May serve as the Lead Officer in the absence of the Shift
Supervisor.
- May perform other duties in addition to those outlined in this
