Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental
Specialist to join our team on a Permanent (Full-Time, Part-Time or
Job Share basis) or 12-month maximum term contract (with the
possibility of further 12-month extensions). Additionally, further
vacancies arising within either Safety, Health and Environment
(SHE) and Transmission Energy Transition (TET) in the next 12
months will potentially also be filled via this recruitment
process.In this role, you will lead and support the development of
strategic network plans and asset strategies. Your primary focus
will be on clearly identifying SHE requirements associated with our
work programs, influencing external stakeholders to secure
strategic safety and environment statutory approvals and
requirements for future growth, development and protection of the
network.Your Role in Action
- Identify key environmental, planning and/or heritage
constraints to facilitate project design, scoping and successful
delivery and assist Western Power in delivering outcomes by
providing timely and relevant environmental advice (including
technical/operational, approvals, strategy and risk).
- Support and mentor the business to identify, assess, manage and
acquit SHE requirements, including but not limited to
environmental, pollution, land access, urban and regional planning
and public safety requirements during the planning, development and
prioritisation of the work program and associated projects in a
timely manner.
- Influence the development of strategic network plans, asset
strategies, network design standards and work programs that lead to
improved SHE outcomes and reduction of associated risk to a level
that is as low as reasonably practicable.
- Lead and support the development and implementation of SHE
requirements that govern access to the network for the purpose of
construction, maintenance and inspection and promote improved SHE
outcomes.
- Develop and manage relationships with external planning and
infrastructure stakeholders to ensure the appropriate placement of
our network assets, in consideration of our objectives.
- Monitor and implement improvements to SHE requirements to
ensure continuous improvement as part of a closed loop feedback
process.
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise and advice in relation to
environment, heritage and urban and regional planning advice to the
SHE or TET Function and broader business.
- Represent the SHE or TET Function at internal and external
engagement and training sessions.What Makes You a Great FitWe are
seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, science, urban and
regional planning or related discipline.
- Extensive demonstrated years' experience in environment,
heritage and statutory planning approvals.
- Experience in environmental matters and the development of
risk-reducing performance improvement strategies.
- Proven ability to influence key internal and external
stakeholders in relation to SHE outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience with community engagement.
- Strong ability to work within a dynamic environment and to work
autonomously.
- Experience in delivering large complex business-wide
improvement strategies.
- A sound understanding of the regulations and arrangements
associated with infrastructure planning, land development,
environmental assessments, and heritage and land access.By joining
